Bright lanterns light up thousands of families, and reunion warms every heart. On the afternoon of March 3, 2026, the cultural corridor in front of the Hospital History Museum of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University was festively decorated with lanterns and streamers, filled with cheerful laughter. The themed Lantern Festival Garden Party kicked off warmly, themed "Celebrating Lantern Festival on the Medical Journey: Warm Garden Party for Health & Joy".
To expand coverage, the hospital set up two branch venues simultaneously at the parking lot of East Lake Branch and the outpatient square of Wushi Branch, realizing linkage among the three campuses. All staff members, their family members as well as inpatients were invited to join the event, allowing people to experience the hospital’s humanistic care amid the traditional Chinese festival.
The garden party consisted of three major functional areas: Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Zone, Fun Game Zone and Interactive Experience Zone, featuring diverse and well-designed activities. In the Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Zone, hospital staff and patients’ families took part in traditional folk activities including lantern riddles guessing, paper-cutting and sugar painting, immersing themselves in the charm of fine traditional Chinese culture. The Fun Game Zone was packed with participants, where popular games such as ring toss, pitch-pot and glutinous rice ball picking attracted long queues. The site witnessed harmonious interaction between medical staff and patients, as well as warm parent-child moments, creating a warm and lively festive atmosphere. Integrated with health popularization elements, the Interactive Experience Zone offered professional services: medical staff delivered popular health knowledge via interesting Q&A sessions and convenient physical examinations, sending festive blessings alongside professional health care to every participant.
"We are occupied with medical work on ordinary days and barely have time to accompany our kids to such activities. It is heartwarming to enjoy the strong festive atmosphere right in the hospital," said a participating hospital staff member. Many inpatients walked out of wards accompanied by their families and medical workers to join the garden party, wearing long-awaited smiles on their faces. "I never expected to spend such a lively Lantern Festival in hospital. I’m deeply touched by all the warmth," a patient’s family member expressed emotionally.
Organized by the hospital Trade Union and jointly prepared by multiple departments, the activity fully reflects the hospital’s emphasis on humanistic care for both staff and patients. It not only strengthens cohesion among hospital employees, but also shortens the distance between medical providers and patients. Furthermore, the activity practices the hospital’s cultural philosophy of "People-oriented, Warm-hearted Service".
